Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado remains one of the best known of their comic operas, satirizing society, politics, and powerful people tying themselves into knots in order to carry out the letter of the law while protecting their own interests. In The McAdo, an adaptation developed by GS Austin Society, the setting and character names are updated and altered, but it's otherwise the same topsy-turvy tale and brilliant musical score that has delighted audiences worldwide for well over a century.

The Madison Savoyards began in 1963 with a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe, and we annually present a staged production of a Gilbert and Sullivan or other light opera.
